My Eyes Have Been Opened……….Fully!

My last post, “The Birth of Nameless”, I mentioned that I would be playing other games now, and trying to expand my game knowledge.  Yeah, that’s not going to work.  I started playing Rainbow Six: Vegas 1 last night and I was very disappointed.  This was recommended to me to try, and to be honest, I should have rented it first.  How outdated can a once “good game” get in a year?  VERY!!!!  I’ll explain later on.  So I quickly turned that game off and threw Halo 3 in.  Now this wasn’t as bad to me as Rainbow 6, but still I was missing something.  Couldn’t figure out what it was at first.    Then it hit me, ACTION and EXCITEMENT!  Those were the two ingredients that these games lacked.  And I wasn’t too happy at all. Let me break down the flaws that both of these games had that I found.  Now keep in mind that I am new to first person shooters, and COD4 was my first one.

Rainbow Six: Las Vegas

Gameplay: WAY too slow for my liking.  Apparently a year ago this game was this $hit, but I couldnt’ see it.  No run option at all, which made creeping around really boring and tedious.  Having to push a button to climb up a ladder, or get over something was really annoying and took too long to do. (COD4 has the “A” button you hit to do some similar things, but it is pretty fluid, unlike Vegas).  I did like the feature where you could back up against a wall, and look around corners and sight up.  However, I did find this to be a challenge as well, being that it was jerky and homeboy didn’t operate the same way twice.

Guns: Gun control was something that made this game practically garbage. There was absolutely NO control with the guns at all. I would shoot and it would be ALL OVER the place. Yeah I know it was my first time playing this game, but come on, I can shoot pretty damn well. I did like the feature of having multiple attachments at a time for weapons. Something that I wished COD4 did. But over all I take the single attachments on COD4 and gun control, or having the ability to run a silencer and a red dot at the same time.
Graphics: GARBAGE! All I will say.

Overall Rating: D (not an F because of the multiple attachments feature)

Halo 3

Gameplay: Decent I suppose.  Not as much action as everyone preaches to me, but it was alright.  I can see that if you get really good at the game it could be very fun DESTROYING everyone.  I think I still hate the “Halo jump” more than anything in video games.  In COD4 I crack up when I see it because if your jump infront of me you will die.  In Halo you jump in the air FOR DAYS.  Kind of stupid.  Not as fast as COD4, therefore semi boring to me.  I must admit I had a GREAT time playing the campaign in co-op and finding skulls.

Guns:  I do like the guns that are in this game, and the ability to use two at once.  That feature is SICK.  However, I am a modern warfare junkie in general, not just talking video games, so I prefer to use realistic weapons while in battle.  The ability to sight in with a single click and have it stay there is pretty tight too.  Although, I like the capabilities of releasing a button while sighted (like in COD4) and be fully mobile without any delay.  Gun control isn’t bad once you get the skill of following people with a sight while they hop around like bunnies.

Graphics:  SICK!!

Overall Rating: B

I must say after playing these 2 games I plan on concentrating more on Call of Duty than any other game.  I will eventually become a killer on Halo, but as for now I am COD4 all the way.  Call of Duty 4 was named Game of the Year for a damn good reason.  I understand why.  My next effort is to try Ghost Recon.  Hopefully that will be better.

Side Note:  JimmyJayCEO and Raven8405 will be locked in battle tonight.  Raven8405 has sqwaked long enough and it’s time for Tha CEO to shoot some birds.  There will be a cage match style fight tonight.  I already know the end result of the best of 3:  Jimmy-2 vs Raven-1.  The only reason for the  win in Raven’s side is the fact that as a young soldier Jimmy was trained not to embarrass a “leader” too badly in fun competition.  Therefore there will be one loss on purpose for Jimmy.  Spectating is allowed and very welcomed.
