A Long Weekend of Double XP!

If you are a Call of Duty 4 junkie you probably had as long a weekend as I did.  The new maps came out Friday morning and there couldn’t have been a better start to the weekend than that.  Not only were there new maps, but while playing these maps you were awarded DOUBLE xp points for everything.  Every kill was worth either 10 or 20.  Playing “Search and Destroy” was by far the best.  100 XP points per kill.  Capturing a flag during “Domination” got you +30!  How dope was that?  I spent countless hours trying to rank as much as possible, and get as much familiarity with the new maps as possible.  Let me tell you, it was VERY NICE!!!

A quick run down of the new maps and a funny story for you.  I personally have only played 3 of the 4 maps.  Killhouse was only available for “Team Tactical” games and cage match games, which was really dumb if you ask me.  But the other maps are great.  Broadcast is exactly what it was described to be.  A TV station with tons of hallways, and a couple outside spots.  “Search and Destroy” isn’t the best game type to play on this map, but “Headquarters” and “Domination” are really fun on this.  There was a couple spots on this map that Hollywood aptly named.  One being called “Aron’s Office”.  How bad is that when we associate something in the game, with Lumbergh from our work?  Pathetic huh?  Oh well, it’s a quick way to let everyone know where our target is.  Creek is a REALLY big map, and I would say it’s my less favorite of the new maps.  It is basically Overgrown times 10.  Lots of hiding spots behind bushes and rocks.  2 separate ridges that are PERFECT for sniping.  Another spot on this map was named by my crew:  “The Ho Chi Minh Trail”.  This is a trail that reminds me of the final scene in the movie “The Last of the Mohicans.”  Beware when taking this route, because you are exposed the entire time.  I usually don’t bring out the sniper rifle too often, but I found myself using it every time that map came up.  Whether it was “Search and Destroy”, or “Headquarters”, or “Domination”, JimmyJayCEO was sniping.  I actually became pretty proficient over the weekend.  I personally think that “Team Deathmatch” is the best game type for this map.  It just so big that it makes all the other game types very long, and you find yourself running around more than shooting.  I have 2 funny stories regarding this map that I’ll share in a second.  Chinatown is by far my favorite map.  I’m not just talking about the favorite of the new maps either.  This map is PERFECT!  Lots of buildings to hide in.  Tons of pathways.  Pretty much all open as well.  My first time on this map I went 26-4, and that was without knowing where the hell I was going.  Pretty impressive if I may say so.  After playing Chinatown all weekend I pretty much know every spot to go to, and to look at.  Team Hollywood feels the same way about this map as I do, so watch out GameBattles.  The setting is semi dark and lit by tons of neon signs.  Any game type is good for this map as well.  There is an underground section that sells “DVDs”.  We named this “The Porn Shop”, mainly because you can imagine a porn being shot down there and then sold on the shelves.  Pretty funny.  Another cool thing on this map is that there are a couple mounted machine guns that are positioned nicely and come in handy.

A couple funny stories this weekend that really made me laugh.  They both happened to take place on Creek.  Let me start by setting the back drop.  I usually play with members from Team Hollywood, but found myself running on my own.  I was down by some rocks when all of a sudden I got shot.  You Were Killed by Raven8405, my homie.  Knowing his style of play I proceeded to warn the team that I was playing with to watch out for Raven8405 because he is RIDICULOUS at sniping.  The response I got, “What is he using a Barrett?” Idiots!!  “Nah man, he uses the first sniper rifle.  The M40A3, but I wasn’t talking about that, just keep your heads down.”  Not more than 30 seconds later I hear, “Damn JimmyJay you were right, he is pretty good with the snipe.”  A minute later, “F Raven.  I can’t believe he just made that shot!”  Then he proceeded to explain how Raven8405 out drew him with a snipe from close range, and killed him with a head shot.  I was laughing the rest of the match.  Thankfully I was able to get the better of Raven this match, with a final score of 2-1.  Better luck next time brotha!

Another funny story comes from the same map, and once again I was completing solo missions.  I popped into the game late, so of course I started on the opposite side of the map form the buildings, and there was NO ONE to be seen anywhere.  Seemed kind of strange.  So I proceeded to take C.  I wasn’t wearing my headset at the time, but all of a sudden I hear someone screaming “Don’t take……”, and that’s all I got.  By this time I was already taking B.  Still wondering why there wasn’t’ ANYONE around.  So I put my headset on and heard everyone telling me not to take anything.  I asked why not, since we were playing domination.  I soon found out why.  Both teams were at A capturing and giving up the flag over and over and over again, just getting points.  What do you think crossed my mind?  TURKEYS!!!!!  I went 48-4 that round.  Everyone on my team and the other team was PISSED.  I called in about 2 airstrikes and had 2 helicopters.  Not bragging or anything, since they weren’t really playing, but proud of myself at the same time.  Reason I was proud, I only died 4 times with EVERY SINGLE MEMBER of the other team hunting only me.  Granted everything was double points, but how lame can you possibly make the game?  I personally think I made it better.  After the round was over, a lot quicker than they would of liked thanks to me, I had to listen to all the whining and crying for a minute.  All I did was laugh the whole time.  I ended up backing out and linking up with Team Hollywood to merc some other people, who pose a little bigger challenge.
All in all the weekend was a good one.  Got a lot of playing time in, and ranked really quick.  I have completed pretty much all of the gun challenges I have available right now except for the shotguns, and snipers.  I plan to finish at least 1 sniper class this prestige, if I have time that is.
Breaking News:  Team member Raven8405 came into work today late, after playing rounds of Call of Duty 4 this morning.  To my excitement, double XP points still exist.  There is a god.  This may pose a problem since I spent most of my weekend playing instead of getting things done.  The wifey may not like the idea of me playing non stop again, but hey love is war right?
